Meeting the natural world with reverence to inspire, nurture, and protect childhood.

Mountaintop Waldorf is a community of children and families across generations, united by shared experiences of belonging, love, joy, and growth. Since 2007, Mountaintop Children’s Garden has provided families in the Mid-Hudson Valley with a Waldorf based early childhood program nestled in the forests at the foot of the Catskills—rooted in imaginative play, steady rhythms, and a deep sense of wonder in the natural world.
"Let him completely realize that it is nature that teaches, and that you, with your art, do nothing more than walk quietly at her side. When he hears a bird warble or an insect hum on a leaf, then cease your talk; the bird and the insect are teaching; your business is then to be silent."
-Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi

At Mountaintop, children ages 18 months to 6 years are welcomed into nurturing, home-like programs that follow a steady rhythm and embrace the natural world. We also offer Parent/Child introductory classes and a vibrant Summer Camp for ages 2 to 10

Led by certified Waldorf educators who have years of experience in early childhood education and forest kindergarten programs, our school is a full member of WECAN, the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America.

Our families and staff deeply value the connection that grows from our shared purpose: nurturing and educating the next generation. We take a whole-child approach—nurturing heart, hands, and head—and regularly share resources and events that support and strengthen our community.
